PTO Smart Board Campaign

1 Smart Board Funded, 30 to GO!

To honor the on-going excellence with both the Elementary and Middle School being recognized as Exemplary (Top 10% in Illinois), Germantown Hills PTO would like to assist in technology adoption and utilization to further our academic success. The adoption of smart board technology is a great first step. You will find almost all the classrooms at Metamora, Washington, Peoria, Morton, and Dunlap are equipped with smart boards, that is not the experience of our students. Our district currently only has seven classrooms equipped with smart boards.

There are currently 31 teachers on the waiting list for Smart Boards. Unfortunately, this year the existing technology budget will not permit the purchase of any boards due to the number of computers that needed to be replaced. PTO has a goal to work with the school to jump start the securing of the smart boards that will enhance student learning and facilitate multimedia lessons by the teachers.

Each smart board with shipping, installation, software, etc. will run approximately $2500. We are planning to work with local businesses, apply for grants and develop other activities to support this goal. If you have ideas, grants or donors you think we should reach out to, please reach out to our Vice President, Tommy Coy at tommytrains4health@gmail.com.

PTO has committed a $10,000 match from our budget to assist in the success of the campaign (Goal: $77,500 for 31 Smart Boards). Also, 100% of the funds raised through this campaign and the related fundraisers will go directly to the purchase of the smart boards.

We are also asking you, to consider donating towards the purchase of a board. When Metamora did this over 10 years ago, they were able to raise enough donations to equip nearly the entire school district. We are hoping to have the same success in equipping our classrooms with the best technology to aid your daughters and sons in their learning. The PTO is a 501C-3 organization. If your employer does gift matching, we are eligible and MORE than happy to assist in obtaining the matching funds.

Our campaign will be collecting funds through the end of the school year, so that we can have the Smart Boards fully installed prior to the start of the next academic year.
